X-men Supreme Issue #114: Weapon Plus Part 2 is LIVE!

For many notable characters in X-men, the past often comes back to haunt them. When most people think about a mysterious past and old sins catching up with certain X-men, they think about Wolverine. That's to be expected. Wolverine has a long and jaded history that often goes far beyond the conflicts he experiences with the X-men. I've even tried to capture some of those experiences here in the X-men Supreme fanfiction series. To some extent, that is what's happening in the current Weapon Plus arc. However, it's not just Wolverine's past that's doing most of the damage here in X-men Supreme.

Every interesting character has a history that leads to major conflicts. Throughout X-men Supreme, I've had Weapon X be the source of numerous conflicts. They've attempted to abduct the X-men. They've freed Graydon Creed. Now they've turned a wounded soldier into the unstoppable yet unstable Fantomex. In many ways, Weapon Plus is a culmination of X-men Supreme's numerous Weapon X storylines. But one aspect of that story has less to do with Wolverine's past and more to do with that of Sage, who also happens to be Beast's lover.

Sage, or Tessa as she has also been called, is one of those characters I feel has never had a proper history in X-men. There was a time in the comics when she was a prominent figure. She has since faded into obscurity. I wanted her to be a big part of the X-men Supreme fanfiction series because I felt she was a blank slate in some ways. She has all these qualities that could make her a compelling character. Those qualities were just never given an appropriate context. That all changed during the Civilization No Longer Lost arc when Sage revealed her sordid history with Sebastian Shaw and the Inner Circle. That history has now converged with the ongoing conflict that is Weapon X to create the crisis that is Weapon Plus.

It was Sage's research that made Weapon Plus possible. Colonel Wraith, Graydon Creed, and William Stryker just took what she did and exploited it for their own purposes. That makes Fantomex and the conflict surrounding Weapon Plus more personal. And it's this personal aspect to the conflict that is about to take center stage in a big way. What will this mean for Sage, Weapon X, and the X-men? That starts to become clearer with this issue.

X-men Supreme Issue 114: Weapon Plus Part 2

It always feels like I'm taking a bit of a risk when I try to develop lesser known characters in the X-men Supreme fanfiction series. But I feel like it's a risk that's worth taking. Characters like Sage don't get a lot of attention in the comics. I want X-men Supreme to be that source of X-men that those fans can turn to in order to get the stories they won't get otherwise. That makes ensuring the quality of these stories all the more important. So please take the time to review this and other issues of X-men Supreme. The more feedback I get, the more I can refine this fanfiction series. Either send it to me directly or post your comments directly in the issue. Either way is fine. Until next time, take care and best wishes. Excelsior!
