I know I've been doing a lot of ranting lately, comparing Hope Summers (aka Jean Ripoff) to no fewer than fifteen different kinds of diarrhea. I apologize to those who are sick of hearing my graphic depictions of the entrails I want Jean ripoff's brains to read once Bishop comes back from the future and gives her a Columbian neck-tie complete with her tongue ripped out through her throat. While I may not be done spitting on her eventual grave, there are still plenty of X-books that I enjoy reading. X-23 by Marjorie Liu is one of them. This past week she and Daniel Way were the subject of CBR's X-POSITION.

Now I've had little to complain about with X-23. Marjorie Liu has taken the character a long way in only seven short issues. X-23 has been a science experiment, a messed up teenage girl, an X-man, a member of X-Force, and a whole host of other problems that make her just slightly less crazy than the girls I dated in high school. X-23 still has plenty awesome to offer as recent stories have set the stage for an eventual clash with Daken, Wolverine's metrosexual son who makes Lady Gaga look modest. I'm looking forward to seeing X-23 give Daken the kind of torment that doesn't give him a boner. As such I submitted some questions for the X-POSITION and they ended up getting asked.
MarvelMaster616 is also curious about Weapon X and some of Laura's conditioning. What can you tell him about the following:
1) Since the beginning of the "X-23" series, there seems to be a lot of emphasis on Laura being a teenage girl and not just a mutant or a product of Weapon X. Now that she's trying to find her own way, what exactly would you say she's looking for? Does she have any idea? Or is that something she's still trying to figure out?
Liu: I don't think she really knows what she's looking for. Who does? She's always lived in a very controlled environment. Very regulated and structured. And then, the first time she was on her own, it was a disaster. She killed people, became a prostitute -- I mean, come on. This kid has had a rough life.
Now she's a little older, maybe a little wiser and she wants to know who she is -- because she doesn't know. Is she just a killer? Is that all she's good for? Can she move past her conditioning and be something more? Or is it enough for her to be a soldier? What makes her happy?
2) In the second issue of "X-23," there's a moment where Logan is talking to Laura about him being a father figure to her and her being a daughter. Is this relationship dynamic going to come back up once their paths cross again? The ‘Hellverine' arc sort of derailed it.
Liu: You bet it's coming back. I'll also be exploring Wolverine's double-standard when it comes to his care of Jubilee versus X-23. Actually, I'll sort of be hammering it over the head. I'm not very subtle, sometimes.
3) Why do you think X-23 and Daken are so different despite being the offspring of Wolverine?
Liu: That's a hard one. Both were raised in radically different environments. Clearly, I think X-23 had a more difficult life than Daken and yet, she's not a sociopath. She is, however, emotionally shut down -- and can be a stone-cold killer. If she had been raised like Daken? Who knows?
Way: Here's the easy, non-academic answer: different creators. Few people know this, but my inspiration for Daken's characterization was actually the song "We're Only Gonna Die" by Bad Religion.
Overall, I've little material with which to make poop jokes this time around. Marjorie Liu seems to have a solid handle on X-23. She's not approaching this series the same way as her previous series. She's basically guiding X-23 down a very uncertain path and providing plenty of awesome along the way. The prospect of X-23 meeting up with Wolverine and a non-Twilight vampire in Jubilee adds even more potential for gut busting awesome. Yet I would still argue that about a quarter of the girls in my high school graduating class went through less insanity.
While the other X-books give me so many reasons to shove my head into a deep fryer, X-23 offers a great deal of comfort in that it's a solid and consistent book that tells the story about a great character who is still coming into her own. With plenty of events to look forward to in the near future, I'll definitely be tracking this comic in my blog and in my LSD trips! Nuff said.

X-men Supreme Update - Supreme Reflections
It's been a week since the end of X-men Supreme Volume 1: Mutant Revolution and so far the response I've gotten has been great. It's not huge, but for those who have taken the time to offer their feedback on it I've been beyond grateful. I worked long and hard on this series and it means a lot to me when people acknowledge that work. Now that the first volume of this vast fanfiction series is complete, I'm ready to move forward!
Volume 2 is alredy in the works. However, before I get to telling that story I'm going to make a few more additions to Volume 1. Starting next week I'll be launching a mini-series called Supreme Reflections. This series will only be five issues long and they won't be nearly as lengthy as the main issues. As such I'm going to try and update them weekly instead of bi-weekly. This depends on how much feedback I get. I want to make it weekly, but depending on forces beyond my control that may or may not be possible. But enough about the schedule. In fanfiction it's content that's king!
Supreme Reflections will consist of a series of vinettes, these first person inner monologues, that cover some of the significant characters from Volume 1. The first Volume will cover the likes of Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Shadowcat, and Magneto. Each issue will allow a character to basically stand back and reflect on their role in Volume 1 while adding a few details to their history and persona. I know not everyone reads the bio page so I hope to use this series to fill in those proverbial blanks. It should help make sense of the personality behind the characters and add context to the previous volume while setting the stage for their role in Volume 2.
So for now, this will be the next stage in the X-men Supreme fanficton series. Supreme Reflections will begin with Wolverine's installment in the first issue. To give you a taste of what you can expect, here's a quick preview.
It may seem pretty damn petty. Hell, everybody who ain’t a former meat puppet takes it for granted. But having a life that’s worth waking up for is a hell of a luxury. Some in the X-men (mostly Cyke) think I take it for granted. Ain’t nothing further from the truth. How could I when I still have nightmares about what those pricks at Weapon X did to me? It’s impossible to understand without going through it first hand. Being bound and gagged in some bio tank…all these wires going into you…feeling as though every fiber on every level is being ripped to shreds and reshaped into a freakin’ monster ain’t just grounds for a good horror flick. It fucks you up in a way no words can ever describe.
Call it melodramatic. Call it bitterness or anger or whatever else sounds halfway decent. It doesn’t do it justice. Even Jeannie and the Prof can’t understand what it’s like to have only shadows for memories. My whole life, however good or bad it may have been, is gone. I didn’t just lose it either. It was taken from me. Those same assholes who turned me into a monster took from me any sense of who I am and who I was. Maybe I was a monster before I lost my memories. Maybe I was a saint. Whatever the case, I don’t know anymore and that’s torture worse than a 1000 rounds of adamantium bonding.
It’s hard to put into perspective for anyone who ain’t already half-crazy. The best way I could ever describe it to Chuck or Jeannie was relating it blacking out on booze. At one point you drink so much shit your mind stops forming memories and you wake up without any clue as to how you got there, what you did, or why you did it. Add the hangover to the mix and it’s a damn good hint at what it’s like. Except stretch it out over a lifetime and replace that hangover with a raging monster. Even the worst alcohol binge can’t come close to the kind of mind fuck Weapon X pulled on me. At least with booze you can still have some vague memories of what went down. For me, those memories ain’t exactly memories. They’re more like shadows cloaked in nightmares, all of which have one thing in common…rage.
It’s probably my most defining trait. I’m an angry son-of-a-bitch. Who wouldn’t be after having their mind thrown into a blender and reshaped into something entirely fucked up? In all the nightmares and bad memories I have, rage is always at the center of it. Chuck says it’s because memories are tied to strong emotions and anger sure seems to be my emotion of choice. I felt it in the memories before Weapon X. I felt it in the memories after Weapon X. I felt it in the memories Weapon X erased. I still feel it every time I think back on the life I don’t even know I’ve lived. Jeannie thinks that’s’ part of what drives my berserker rage. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was right.

X-men Supreme Issue 12: Revenge of Weapon X Part 3 is LIVE!
This is it! The concluding chapter to the Revenge of Weapon X arc for X-men Supreme is complete! This is a big moment for this fanfiction series. This is the first big arc of the many that will unfold. I've spent the first half of Volume 1 setting a lot of these characters up and distinguishing them from their comic and cartoon counterparts. There's going to be plenty more on the way as new characters enter and old characters change. For now, Revenge of Weapon X is a taste of the awesome to come!

X-men Supreme Update - Bio for Dr. Abraham Cornelius
Just a few more days before the final issue in the Revenge of Weapon X arc and the last bio for the major players is up. I added Sabretooth and General John Wraith thus far and last but not least is the brains behind the operation, Dr. Abraham Cornelius.
Bio - Dr. Abraham Cornelius
This rounds out the bios to the Weapon X gang so readers of X-men Supreme now have everything they need to understand the major characters involved. Now this isn't to say that every character in Weapon X has been revealed thus far. This is just one arc and it's impossible for all the secrets of Weapon X to be revealed in a single arc. The history of this program is very extensive in the comics and as such it's going to be pretty extensive in this fanfiction iteration as well. I want to say more, but I'd be getting into spoiler territory and you know how I feel about that.
The final issue of the arc is set for release in a few days so stay the wait for the final part won't be much longer. As for website updates, I'm getting some materials together to update the pics section. For now, my focus is on completing the Weapon X arc. True awesome in any fanfiction series starts with one chapter at a time. Nuff said.

X-men Supreme Update - John Wraith Bio
Happy belated Memorial Day everybody! A quick shout-out to all the brave men and women who make the heroes of Marvel and DC look like pussies by putting their lives on the line for freedom. We support you soldiers! Keep kicking ass!
In the meantime I've done a quick update to X-men Supreme. I added General John Wraith to the bios page.

Now I understand that this version of Wraith is very different from the 616 comics. I've gotten a number of emails regarding this and let me clarify that the John Wraith I'm using for X-men Supreme is more in line with his Ultimate incarnation. Keep in mind I'm taking inspiration from more than just 616. Wraith's Ultimate version has more potential with what I want to do for this series in terms of Wolverine's story and that of Weapon X. X-men Supreme: Revenge of Weapon X Part 3 PREVIEW and Movie News
X-men Supreme is rolling along and the next issue is set to release in one week. The end of the Revenge of Weapon X arc is at hand and some major twists are in the works! Like I said from the beginning, I want to treat this series less like fanfiction and more like a series that Marvel would actually hire me to write. That means keeping it interesting and fresh. I feel this chapter helps do that and sets the stage for some much bigger twists down the line.
But before I get to the preview, some other news came up recently on the X-men First Class front. It seems the movie has it's first confirmed cast member. All the major movie news outlets are reporting that Professor Charles Xavier has a new lead in James McAvoy.
James McAvoy Signs onto X-men First Class
He's Scottish so he has some of the Xavier's background down and he's been in some decent movies such as Wanted and Atonement. The presence of a confirmed cast member helps lend credence that they're serious about this movie, which is a big plus considering how the past few movies have been handled with the equivalent of a drunken retard with carpel tunnel syndrome. What still isn't clear is whether this movie is a full reboot or a prequel. They're still calling it "X-men First Class" and not "X-men Origins: First Class." Either they'll keeping it under wraps or they have no fucking clue themselves. Whatever the case, Xavier has a new face and reports are that Magneto's actor will soon follow. I'll be sure to report that as soon as the information emerges.

“No!” he cursed, “Not now! Not when I’m so close!”
“Doctor, what’s going on?!” exclaimed one of his fellow scientists.
“I don’t know! But stay at your posts! Get the backup systems online!” he ordered.
“Are you kidding?!” exclaimed another scientist, “I’m reading total grid failure and nearly all the servers are being shorted out by some magnetic interference! There’s no way we can continue like this!”
But Dr. Cornelius wouldn’t have it. He grabbed the nearest scientists and held him by the throat.
“I will not accept such cowardice! We’ve come too far to stop now!”
“With all due respect sir, you didn’t hire us for our bravery,” retorted the scientist.
He then broke free and ran off along with many of his other co-workers. Dr. Cornelius was forced to hold onto a nearby console to stay upright from the shaking. He watched as nearly every technician and scientist ran for the emergency exits. With them, he saw his last hope at completing this project leave as well. As he cursed their cowardice he looked back over at the screen to his console and saw something even more infuriating. The electronic locks keeping Logan restrained were starting to fail.
“Errrrrrrrrrrrrahhhhhhhhhh!” roared Logan as he thrashed more violently.
“No…not again!” exclaimed Dr. Cornelius, “Wolverine! You will not escape this time! You hear me?! You are mine! You are Weapon X!”
“I don’t think he’s listening doc,” growled Sabretooth, who emerged from behind the console, “And I’d step back if I were you.”
Dr. Cornelius refused to leave his specimen, but he had no choice. Another violent tremor sent him tumbling to the hard ground. He bumped his head in the process, nearly knocking him out. While he was dazed, the restraints on Wolverine failed. Sparks burst out from the metal shackles as he thrashed more violently. The veins in his neck and muscles bulged as growls of pure rage fueled his push for freedom. Then with a distinct snikt of his claws, the shackles broke and Wolverine burst free from his confines.
“RRRRAHHHHHHHHHHHH!” he howled in a rage.
“He’s out again! Shoot him! Take him down!” yelled the remaining guards.
“Here we go again,” snarled Sabretooth.
But with the tremors still going strong, the guards didn’t stand much of a chance. Logan pounced on the first armed guard he saw and tore into him with his adamantium claws. Pained cries quickly followed along with splatters of blood and mutilated flesh. He was in full berserker rage. Even as bullets ripped through his body, he raged on with merciless fury. Some guards wisely fled while others tried to defend themselves. One tried to shoot him in the face, blowing a good chunk of his skin off. Logan barely flinched, the bullet bouncing right off his forehead. Growling even louder, he literally decapitated the man where he stood. When two more tried to shoot him again, he ducked so they shot each other instead and finished them off by impaling them with his claws.
It was a bloody display. With feral rage and inhuman agility, he ripped through every guard in sight. He stabbed, slashed, and pummeled his way to vengeance. This wasn’t just about getting free. This was about making them pay. With the blood still dripping from his burly flesh, he set his sights on Dr. Cornelius, who lay helpless on the floor. This was the man who stole his life and tried to turn him into his personal meat puppet. For that he would be the focus of all his fury.

X-men Supreme Update - Sabretooth Bio
I know it's been a while since I updated the bios page on my X-men Supreme website. There's a good reason for it though. Some bios may contain spoilers at this point and I don't wish to spoil some of the upcoming events in the series. I kind of want people to read it and review it first. But since Revenge of Weapon X is in full swing, it seems like an appropriate time to tell the story of Victor Creed, aka Sabretooth.
Victor Creed - Sabretooth
His bio should offer some insight into his madness. That's going to be vital as the final chapter unfolds. It is still set for a June 4th release and a preview should be up by May 28th. So stay tuned! X-men Supreme is still going strong and the more support I get, the more awesome the series will be. Nuff said.

X-men Supreme Issue 11: Revenge of Weapon X Part 2 is LIVE
This was a big week for X-men Supreme. My website hit counter has officially reached 1000 hits! It may not seem like much in the grand scope of the internet, but to a humble X-men fan and fanfiction writer like myself it's huge. I can't thank my readers and fellow X-fans enough. It's been a pleasure writing X-men Supreme and I still have plenty more story to tell. Today that story continues with the next installment of the Revenge of Weapon X arc.

X-men Issue 11: Revenge of Weapon X PREVIEW
While there have been some great comics this week, I haven't stopped working on X-men Supreme. The next issue in the Revenge of Weapon X arc is well underway and on schedule to be released on May 21st. I've been happy with the feedback thus far, but I encourage everyone out there to comment and review even more. The more feedback I get, the better I can make this series. For those who give me feedback such as Kali and Roach, they have a special place in my heart. Hope this coming issue prompts more of you to join them.
As he poured over the genetic data taken from blood samples, General Wraith entered the observation deck.
“We’re ready,” he told him, “My men have both Wolverine and Charles Xavier.”
“Excellent!” said Dr. Cornelius with a grin, “What of his X-men?”
“We’ve got them contained as well. But we haven’t sedated them, just as you requested.”
“And what of their powers? Are the suppressor collars I provided working properly?”
“So far, no incidents,” said Wraith, “But I am curious as to where these collars came from and why you never mentioned them before.”
“They were a gift from a friend of a friend. That’s all I can say,” said Dr. Cornelius ominously. “All you and your men need to know is that it’s vital that we keep each specimen contained. We can begin their conditioning as soon as we extract the necessary data from Wolverine.”
“It would still be easier if we kept those punks under,” Wraith pointed out, “I did background checking on the X-men. They’re a pesky bunch. They have a way of screwing you over if you let them.”
“That’s a risk you and your people will have to take. Let me be clear, General. I don’t want you to sedate them until I have a full workup of their physiology. There is so much to learn and so much potential to be tapped. If you want to make good use of it you’ll do things my way.”
General Wraith didn’t like his tone. He didn’t like being kept out of the loop either. But Cornelius was never one for exaggerations. While he didn’t share Dr. Cornelius’s excitement, he did share his ambition now that everything was back in place.
“No promises, doctor. Most of these X-men are just punk kids. They get unruly and I won’t hesitate to take them out.”
“I understand, but do be careful with them,” warned Dr. Cornelius, “There is much they have to offer and it would be a shame if we were to miss out.”
“Don’t get smug with me, Abraham. Just because you’re the brains doesn’t mean you can order me and my men around,” said Wraith sternly.
“Just because you’re the muscle, don’t think you can intimidate me either, General,” said Cornelius, his smug grin not waning, “You may have the guns, but you don’t have the power. Like it or not, I am the only one who can extract the necessary secrets from Wolverine. And I am the only one who can put those secrets to good use. If you want any of this to pay dividends, I suggest you stop defending your ego and start doing your job.”
General Wraith hated it when men like Dr. Cornelius talked down to him. But as much as he hated to admit it, he needed his expertise. He wished he didn’t because there was still so much about this man he didn’t trust. But so long as he delivered, he could tolerate his arrogance.
“Fine,” said Wraith, maintaining a stern demeanor, “But make no mistake. You need me as much as I need you. This isn’t your personal science lab. This is serious business and I expect results!”
“And you shall have them,” assured Dr. Cornelius as he gathered his materials, “Remember I once promised that Weapon X would provide a foundation for us to do much more than just create weapons. Today I keep that promise.”
“You said that several decades ago. Unless my Alzheimers is kicking in, I remember that not working out so well.”
“Better late than never,” Cornelius shrugged, “Think of me what you will. But I am a man of my word. I won’t fail this time. You can count on it.”
With a confident stride, Dr. Cornelius took his materials and followed General Wraith out of the observation deck. Wraith was still skeptical, but he knew better than most men the value of his word. He and his men had done their part in getting Wolverine back along with the X-men. Now it was Dr. Cornelius’s turn.

X-men Supreme Issue 10: REvenge of Weapon X Part 1 is LIVE!
A new issue of X-men Supreme has been released! I know I still have a number of comics to review, but my fanfiction comes first. For all of you waiting for a review of Uncanny X-men 524 rest assured, I have the comic. I WILL review it along with the Iron Man 2 movie. In the meantime, X-men Supreme shall keep rolling along with a new arc entitled Revenge of Weapon X.

Like the last arc, this is multi-part. Unlike the last arc, this will be much bigger! Whenever Weapon X rears it's ugly head, bad things happen and so do big changes.
